{"id":4620,"date":"2017-10-11T09:40:38","date_gmt":"2017-10-11T07:40:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.youthemploymentdecade.org\/?p=4620"},"modified":"2018-02-28T12:43:12","modified_gmt":"2018-02-28T11:43:12","slug":"un-youth-envoy-needs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.youthemploymentdecade.org\/en\/repor\/un-youth-envoy-needs\/","title":{"rendered":"The UN Youth Envoy needs you!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This September, the <strong>UN Youth Envoy<\/strong> will announce the inaugural class of the <a href=\"http:\/\/sdgyoungleaders.org\/#calling-all\">Young Leaders<\/a> for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youthemploymentdecade.org\/en\/category\/global-goals\/\">Sustainable Development Goals<\/a> \u2013 17 young change-makers whose leadership is catalyzing the achievement of the Goals.<br \/>\nFrom food to fashion to finance, the Young Leaders will come from many different backgrounds, represent every region in the world and help activate millions of young people in support of the Goals.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Convened by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.un.org\/youthenvoy\/\">Secretary-General\u2019s Envoy on Youth<\/a>, these Young Leaders will be recognized for their leadership and contribution to a more sustainable world. The Young Leaders will come together as a community to support efforts to engage young people in the realization of the SDGs both through strategic opportunities with the UN and through their existing initiatives, platforms and networks. Young Leaders will be expected to actively support one or more of the following objectives:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Advocate for the Goals, in ways most accessible and relatable to young people across different contexts;<\/li>\n<li>Promote innovative ways of engaging their audiences and peers in the advocacy and realization of the Goals;<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to a brain trust of young leaders supporting the UN and partners for key moments and initiatives related to the Goals.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Each year, a new \u201cClass\u201d will be nominated through an open call for nominations and assessed according to robust selection criteria by a diverse selection committee.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Young Leaders Initiative is powered by the Office of the UN Secretary-General\u2019s Envoy on Youth, in collaboration with amazing partners.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>What are the eligibility requirements to be a Young Leader for the Sustainable Development Goals?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nominees must be between 18 and 30 years old (as of August 12, 2016).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Successful candidates will be selected based on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Their demonstrated achievements in promoting and advancing sustainable development;<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0The ability to command an audience, influence their contemporaries and inspire their constituents;<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Their personal influence within their respective fields and reputation for inclusive and innovative leadership;<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Their demonstrated integrity, commitment to the SDGs and core values of the
