Starting point: Outcomes of the 2013 meeting\u00a0 regarding African Union Commission (AUC) \u2019s consultation with the African youth on Agenda 2063, held in Hammamet, Tunisia, which encourages the establishment of mass media programs, initiatives and strategies across all the thematic \u00a0areas through youth leaders , representatives\u00a0 and special African Unity\u00a0 (AU) ambassadors; \u00a0the Africa\u00a0 Youth Commission\u00a0 (AYC), as a groundbreaking\u00a0 initiatives , including\u00a0 organizing youth in action plan to promote Pan \u2013Africa youth frameworks and activities; \u00a0including youth in action\u00a0 for Africa unity and development, supporting\u00a0 advocacy actions\u00a0 on the ratification\u00a0 and implementation\u00a0 of the African\u00a0 Youth\u00a0 charter\u00a0 as a channel for harnessing the demographic dividend through investment in youth and thereby\u00a0 achieving an integrated, peaceful and prosperous continent driven\u00a0 by its own people, specially the young generation\u00a0 as aspired to in the Agenda 2063 framework for the African we want for ourselves by the 2063.<\/p>\n

Within this framework, and following these outcomes, the African Regional Committee for the \u201cInternational Campaign for the Youth Employment Decade 2020-2030\u201d was represented by Mr. Ngwa Wilson Forbi (African Regional Committee Coordinator), who explained to the audience the aim, Mission and Vision of the \u201cInternational Campaign for the Youth Employment Decade 2020-2030\u201d.<\/p>\n

Mr. Ngwa\u2019s presentation on the role of African Government in Promoting Youth Activism for Appropriate Channeling of Investment in Youth, Employment and Entrepreneurship through the \u201cInternational Campaign for Youth Employment Decade\u201d was seen as a solution to Africa Member States to youth employment in redesigning the youth employment policies. His presentation during the conference critically assessed strategic engagements for Africa Member States on how they can benefit from the \u201cInternational Campaign for Youth Employment Decade 2020-2030\u201d. After his presentation, the following Africa Member States\u00b4leaders attending the conference made the following statements:<\/p>\n

(i) Honourable Patrick Zhuwa, Minister of Youth, Indigenization and Economic Empowerment (Zimbabwe), stated that there is need for Africa Member States to fully grab the opportunities of the \u201cInternational Campaign for Youth Employment Decade 2020-2030\u201d in drafting youth policies for employment, which encourages the inclusion, effective participation and representation of Africa youth at the political and operational levels of African Union.<\/p>\n
(ii) Honourable Mohammed Bazam, Chairman House of Committee on Youth Yobo State House Assembly, Nigeria, stated that there is need for youth friendly\u00a0 space with Africa Member States\u00a0 to introduce\u00a0 and prepare the young people\u00a0 for political leadership and participation , and assist in shaping\u00a0 up their\u00a0 voices as equal partners in driving\u00a0 Africa\u2019s\u00a0 development Agenda through the \u201cInternational Campaign for Youth Employment Decade 2020-2030\u201d.<\/p>\n

(iii) Alhaji Mourarji Maaji Ajiri, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth Sport Social and Welfare stated that the \u201cInternational Campaign for the Youth Employment Decade 2020-2030\u201d will promote active and constructive youth engagement in African Unity and development Agenda in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) based on Africa Member States\u00a0 priorities\u00a0 to ensure appropriate channeling of investments in youth for their uplifting and for their sustainable and inclusive growth .<\/p>\n
At the end of the conference, a letter of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Africa Regional Committee (YEDIA), represented by Mr. Ngwa Wilson Forbi (African Regional Committee Coordinator), and Mr. Yougbar Boubakar (President of Africa Youth Commission) to promote the \u201cInternational Campaign for the Youth Employment Decade 2020-2030 in Africa\u201d.<\/p>\n
