McDonald’s<\/strong> is launching a global plan of action<\/strong> to reduce youth unemployment. The multinational is launching ‘Youth Opportunity<\/strong><\/a>‘, a global action plan that aims to reduce barriers to the labour integration of young people. It will be implemented in Spain from 2019<\/strong>, according to a corporate press release.<\/p>\n

In particular, between now and 2025<\/strong>, this project will help two million young people<\/strong> around the world to combat unemployment through a programme that includes training, work experience in a real work environment, and opportunities for professional growth and development.<\/p>\n

The plan is part of the company’s commitment to the Global Initiative on Decent Jobs for Youth<\/strong><\/a>, headed by the International Labour Organisation<\/strong><\/a> (ILO), which has been designed to enhance world efforts to combat youth unemployment.<\/p>\n

McDonald’s will offer a training plan covering employability skills and competencies in collaboration with the NGO, International Youth Foundation<\/strong><\/a> (IYF), through which young people may acquire the basic skills required to access the labour market<\/strong>. In addition, this initiative includes an internship programme, which is expected to cater for about 43,000<\/strong> young people over the next seven years in Europe.<\/p>\n

The Executive Vice President and Chief People\u2019s Officer of McDonald\u2019s, David Fairhurst<\/strong>, explained that “around the world, too many young people are finding there are barriers to entering the workplace”. “We believe this needs to change and, therefore, together with our franchise holders, we shall leverage resources and help these young people to develop the core workplace skills they need to get jobs. We shall give them the opportunity to kick-start their careers and achieve their true potential, whether at McDonald\u2019s or elsewhere\u201d, he stated.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, McDonald’s has renovated the Inserta agreement with Fundaci\u00f3n Once<\/strong><\/a> that they first signed in the year 2000<\/strong> and that involves hiring 30 people with disabilities<\/strong> over the next three years, totalling 285<\/strong> effective jobs since the beginning of the collaboration agreement.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
