The deadline to submit a project ends on 1 February<\/h3>\n<p>According to figures from the World Health Organization (WHO), <strong>more than 84 million people, 12.3% of the population in Latin America, have some type of disability<\/strong>. For this reason, the technology giant Microsoft announced <a href=\"https:\/\/ai4prod.microsoftcrmportals.com\/AIAcccessibilityGrantApplication\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a competition for developers<\/a>, non-governmental organisations, and researchers from the region to submit ideas for the \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/ai-for-accessibility\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>AI for Accessibility<\/strong><\/a>\u2019 programme, with a view to making the lives of disabled people easier.<br \/>\nThis is a <strong>new programme designed by the company and funded with 22 million euros<\/strong> to place AI tools in the hands of developers to accelerate the development of accessible and intelligent solutions.<br \/>\n<strong>This technology is forging a change<\/strong>; in recent years, <strong>the use of computers to allow people with visual, hearing, cognitive, learning, mobility and mental health impairments to participate actively in daily life without problems has increased<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<table style=\"height: 633px; width: 100%; border-collapse: collapse; border-style: none; border-color: #ffffff;\" border=\"1\">\n<tbody>\n<tr style=\"height: 65px;\">\n<td style=\"width: 50%; height: 65px;\">\n<h3>Some examples<\/h3>\n<\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 50%; height: 65px;\">&nbsp;<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr style=\"height: 72px;\">\n<td style=\"width: 50%; height: 72px;\">Microsoft is committed to developing this technology.
