The Novia Salcedo Foundation will hold a parallel event to announce progress of the project to proclaim a Youth Employment Decade

The campaign promoted by the Spanish Government and the Novia Salcedo Foundation for the proclamation of a Youth Employment Decade by the United Nations is facing a major event on 1 and 2 February. The Youth Forum that the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) will be holding in New York on the said dates will be attended by Rubén Urosa, director of Injuve, who will make the official presentation of a project that began to take shape in June, 2013. Urosa will take the floor during the second plenary session on the 2nd February, titled ‘Youth Taking Action to Implement the 2030 Agenda: priorities and moving forward’. In addition to the representative of the Spanish Government, other speakers will be Max Trejo, secretary general of the Ibero-American Youth Organisation, Hindou Oumarou Ibrahim, coordinator of the Association for Indigenous Women and Peoples of Chad; Dorina Lluka, CEO or the YMCA in Pristina and Saya Abdullah, youth delegate at the United Nations for Holland.

The coming of age of Pegasus in New York on occasion of the ECOSOC event will be followed the next day by a side event organised by the Novia Salcedo Foundation. The purpose is to present the progress made to date to some of the 500 entities from 72 countries that have joined the campaign and to other international organisations. The following people will speak at the event: Noëlla Richard, Youth  Policy Specialist, Bureau for Policy and Programme Support, UNDP, representatives of the Spanish Government, UN Global Compact, Novia Salcedo Foundation, ILO and other civil society youth organisations.
