On 13 November, the President of the Novia Salcedo Foundation, Luis Cañada, received the Joxe Mari Korta Award 2018 during an event held at the Scientific and Technological Park of Miramón, in San Sebastián. The jury highlighted his determined stance in support of incorporating women into the workplace and, more specifically, into management positions. 
Cañada has extensive business experience. He was the general manager of the family business, Vicinay Cadenas, with a long tradition in the cast iron industry, and he has also been the Consul General of the Government of Norway, among other jobs.
Since 2013, he has been the president of the Novia Salcedo Foundation, where he works with two goals in mind: promoting youth and empowering women. One of the results of this effort has been the Pegasus Project that has been promoting domestic and international actions in favour of youth employment for five years. In 2016, the Foundation was granted Special Consultative Status with ECOSOC, one of the United Nations’ key agencies.
In addition to Luis Cañada, the awards, created to acknowledge people with long professional careers and who work to improve business, were granted to the president of Grupo Iruña, Alicia Garmendia; Miguel Ángel Montes, co-founder of the firm Cometel; and Javier Onaindia, who established Obras Públicas Onaindia.
